Thompson Smurtwaite Junior is from Galway, which is on the west coast of the Republic Of Ireland. He has been writing and performing for the last thirty years. Junior Thompson is a fluent singer, guitarist and harmonica player who has performed with Archie Lee Hooker, Elvis Costello and Louisiana Red. His music has been described as "Basically acoustic while his band drives with the energy of an electric storm. It's a modern take on authentic blues using a double harp attack". Foot stomping blues with a killer beat.
Welcome Mister Blues was recorded between September 97 & February 98 at Sun Street Studios, Tuam Co. in Galway. Junior Thompson and Kenny Ralph produced it. Junior Thompson except for The Fly, which was co-written with his slide guitarist Steve Tarrant, wrote all of the tracks. The other musicians are Gert Nungesser (guitars), Thierry Joseph (Organ), Mark McConville (b. vocals), Dougie Duddley (harmonica), bass players: Luis Asturias and Paul Johnson and drummers: Padraig Stevens and Mark Logan. All of the tracks are great including Daddys On A Roll, Steady Rollin Train, Forgotten How To Party, Dancing With The Wiseguys and Late Night Blues Train. Welcome to great new blues from Mister Blues; let him introduce you to his friends.
