Rick Derringer
Jackhammer Blues
(Blues Bureau)
www.rickderringer.com
The Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo Man Rick Derringer is back with another power packed Blues Bureau release. Derringer's distinctive guitar based blues-rock sound is well known. Since 1993 he has released "Back To The Blues" (BB2008-2), "Electra Blues" (BB2023-2), the 1998 "Blues Deluxe" (BB2039-2) and the 1996 European only release "Tend The Fire" (Code Blue 15341-2).
The self produced "Jackhammer Blues" was recorded at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, California. Extras were recorded at Sound Temple in Oakland, California. The rhythm section is Segovia Bader (bass) and Brad Kaiser (drums). Mark Robertson adds Hammond organ on three songs.
"Jackhammer Blues" is a great collection of well-selected and interpreted covers. The jackhammer kicks into gear with "Shake Your Money Maker" and all the work finishes up with The Electric Flag's "Texas". In between there is Albert King's "Wrapped Up In Love Again", "Just A Little Bit", Kim Simmonds' "Somebody Loan Me A Dime", "Parchman Farm", B.B. King's "Crying Won't Help You Now" and Otis Rush's "All Your Love I Miss Loving". Rick Derringer fans will love the pace of this one, he really lets rip.
