Sue Foley
Love Comin' Down
(Shanachie SH 8036)
Blues singer and guitarist Sue Foley was born in Ottawa, Canada on 29 March 1968. Foley was signed to Clifford Antone's label in 1990 and released four CDs on Antone's before moving on to the Shanachie label. As a guitarist, Sue Foley demonstrates a strong sense of rhythm and her vocals are sweet and innocent.
"Love Comin' Down" was recorded at a number of studios including The Bathouse and Pinhead Recorders. Colin Linden produced this 1999 release. Some of the musicians are Colin Linden (guitars), Richard Price (bass), Terry Wilkins (string bass), Bryan Owings (drums) and Richard Bell (organ).
Nine of the tunes are originals. Some are "Am I Worthy", "Let Me Drive", "To Be Next To You", the solo acoustic "How Strong" and "Two Trains". Linden contributes Baritone guitar to the latter. The covers are "Oh Baby", "You're Barkin' Up The Wrong Tree" and Willie Dixon's "Same Thing". "Love Comin' Down" is another great release by Sue Foley. This time there is a lot of emotion in Foley's song writing. Her best yet.
