Singer/guitarist, Lloyd Spiegel is from Melbourne- and has been on the blues scene for years. He developed- an interest in the blues at the age of ten. While still at school and only fifteen, he was frontman of Midnight Special when they recorded the album, Stopping All Stations live in 1994. In May, 1997 Lloyd released his first solo album, Living On A Merry-Go-Round (now out of print). He spends a lot of his time these days touring the US. In 1999 he completed a four month tour across America's Midwest.
Spiegel is well-known for excellence in his music and performance- and that shines through on his new self-titled release-. The album was recorded at Raw Spirit and produced by Chris Hallam and Lloyd. The musicians who played with Lloyd Spiegel on this release were Rob O'Toole (drums), Chris McConachy- (harmonica), Winston Gales (percussion) and Julie O'Brien (keyboards).
Five of the tunes are penned by Spiegel. They are Voices Of Yesterday, Lonely, The Storm and All That's Left Of Me. Others include Chuck Berry's Nadine, Midnight Special and two Brownie- McGhee songs, The Blues Had A Baby and Life Is A Gamble. Good strong vocals and fine acoustic playing with great backing.
